The UA-789 is a home blood pressure monitor that accommodates consumers with larger sized arms. The cuff is coupled with a high speed motor for a fast and comfortable reading. First I bought the Omron model with the regular cuff and that cuff was too small, kept getting error messages, bought this Lifesource one and the cuff was too big, kept getting error messages, so I finally bought a wrist model (omron) and has been working great, tested the wrist model at the doctors office and even though no two readings would ever be exactly the same, according to the doctor, he was confident that the readings were well within the range of accuracy.

I was so excited to find a home monitor with a cuff that would fit my 20 1/2″ arm. The cuff fits me perfectly! (I carry so much weight in my upper arms, they are out of proportion with the rest of my body.)
I had really hoped to find a manual cuff, but didn’t. I figured this would be just as good.
Taking my blood pressure at home, I was getting excellent reading with this monitor. I am pregnant and monitoring for chronic high blood pressure to make sure it doesn’t turn in to preeclampsia. This monitor was giving me readings around 115/70 – absolutely perfect. At the OB’s office with their only extra-large cuff, I’d been seeing 135/88.
I took it with me this morning for a side by side comparison. In case the difference was due to “white coat syndrome.”
Dr’s office: 130/86
This monitor: 113/97
Not even close. (First time this cuff gave me a diastolic reading that high too.)
(Note, this was with a nurse watching me to make sure I put the cuff on properly.)
Hopefully I can get this replaced under warranty. If I get a new one that is accurate, I will correct this review and give it a 5.

I’ve been using this blood pressure monitor every morning and it is very accurate because I had a recent doctor’s appointment, too. My blood pressure is going down and I have it under control now. It’s a great product.

I purchased this monitor about a month ago. The extra large cuff that comes with the monitor is great for larger arms. It is also relatively simple to use and very accurate. I do not have any problems putting the cuff on my own arm and taking my blood pressure. After you have put on the arm cuff, you simply have to hit the button and sit still while the blood pressure monitor does the work. This was a really great buy.
